Arc block

What it is
Releasing in an arc around the end man to block the defender outside him, usually the force player.
Why it matters
Arc blocking is how option and perimeter schemes get a body on the corner without asking a lineman to win a footrace in a straight line. The arc path deliberately gives ground to gain width, so the blocker arrives with a good angle rather than a short one, and it leaves the end man unblocked — which in option football is the point.
Also called
Programs call this arc, arc release or loop to the corner. The Coach answers to any of them.
