Directional shading / leverage
DefenseAlignmentCBSNB
What it is
Aligning inside or outside the receiver to take away a specific route and funnel him toward help.
Why it matters
Leverage is a coverage decision, not a preference: inside leverage with a middle-field safety takes away the slant and funnels to help; outside leverage invites the inside throw and must be paired with inside help. Mismatched leverage and help is the most common coverage bust.
Also called
Programs call this shade, leverage or inside shade. The Coach answers to any of them.
Watch it run
This one is in the simulator. The read is measured off the simulation as it plays — nothing about the outcome is scripted.
