Zone blocking footwork

OffenseTechniqueOLCGT

What it is

Playside-oriented steps - reach, bucket or drop - taken in unison to displace a front laterally.

Why it matters

Zone asks linemen to block an area and a track rather than a named man, with the back reading the resulting displacement. Footwork must be identical across the line or seams open where the timing breaks.

Also called

Programs call this reach step, bucket step or zone step. The Coach answers to any of them.

Watch it run

This one is in the simulator. The read is measured off the simulation as it plays — nothing about the outcome is scripted.
