Option responsibility (dive / QB / pitch)
DefenseAssignmentDEOLBILBSCB
What it is
Every option play requires one defender assigned to the dive, one to the quarterback and one to the pitch.
Why it matters
The defence must account for all three phases every snap. Most option busts are not technique failures but two defenders taking the same phase, leaving one unaccounted. Assignments shift with front, motion and formation strength.
Also called
Programs call this dive-QB-pitch or triple option rules. The Coach answers to any of them.
Watch it run
This one is in the simulator. The read is measured off the simulation as it plays — nothing about the outcome is scripted.
