What it is

A run play with an attached pass option, decided post-snap off a defender's reaction.

Why it matters

Puts a conflict defender in a bind: honour the run and the throw is open behind him, drop and the run has a numbers advantage. Defending RPOs is largely about eliminating conflict assignments rather than out-executing them.
