TOM / ET stunt (end-tackle)

DefenseTechniqueDTDE

What it is

The end crashes inside first and the tackle loops outside behind him.

Why it matters

The mirror image of a TEX. Effective against a guard who sets hard inside. Leaves the edge momentarily unmanned, so it is a poor call against outside run or a mobile quarterback.

Also called

Programs call this ET game or end-tackle twist. The Coach answers to any of them.

  • Done right0:22–0:34

On the left side the end crashes inside first into the guard while the tackle loops outside behind him — the telestrator draws the end's inside path and the tackle's wide loop (49ers DL vs Cowboys OL).
