Box count
What it is
The number of defenders inside the tackle box, counted before the snap to decide whether the run has enough blockers.
Why it matters
The arithmetic is simple and is the basis of most modern offense: five linemen plus a tight end plus a back can block six, so a six-man box is a run and an eight-man box is not. The whole point of the RPO is to stop having to guess — the offense calls both and lets the count decide. Defensively, every coverage shell is partly a statement about how many bodies it can afford to leave in the box.

Nobody in the deep middle. Every defender not covering a man is rushing. The alignment comes from the engine’s own front resolver against real offensive splits, so it is a picture the simulator genuinely produces — not a diagram drawn to make a point.
