Box the kickout

DefenseTechniqueDEOLBEDGE

What it is

Take on the kickout block with the outside arm and hold the edge, keeping the ball inside.

Why it matters

The opposite response to squeeze-and-spill. The defender takes the kickout on his outside shoulder, keeps outside leverage and forces the ball back inside to pursuit. Simpler and safer than spilling; gives up interior yardage but rarely gives up the explosive.

Also called

Programs call this box it or take it with the outside arm. The Coach answers to any of them.
