Fire zone

What it is
A five-man pressure played behind three deep and three under, usually with a lineman dropping into coverage.
Why it matters
The point is to bring an extra rusher from an unexpected place while still keeping a three-deep shell, so the offence gets pressure looks without the all-or-nothing exposure of Cover 0. The dropping lineman is what makes the arithmetic work and also what makes it hard: a 300-pound end covering a flat is only viable if the rush gets home on schedule.
