Kickout block
OffenseTechniqueFBTEGH
What it is
Blocking the end man on the line from the inside out, driving him outward to define the edge of the hole.
Why it matters
The kickout is one half of the central conflict in gap running, and the entire play depends on which way the defender takes it on. It is thrown with the inside shoulder at the defender's near hip, and a kickout blocker who allows himself to be wrong-armed must be coached to log him instead.
Also called
Programs call this kickout, kick, trap block or iso the end. The Coach answers to any of them.
