Squat / hard corner
What it is
The Cover 2 corner's job: sit at depth, wall the release inside and own the flat.
Why it matters
A squat corner is not covering a man and is not running deep — he is a short-zone defender who must jam the outside receiver hard enough to slow the vertical that stresses his safety, then get width for anything thrown to the flat. The instinct to chase the receiver he just jammed is the error, because that vacates the exact space the coverage is built to defend.

See it on the field
Two safeties split the deep field; the corners are short-zone players, not deep ones. The alignment comes from the engine’s own front resolver against real offensive splits, so it is a picture the simulator genuinely produces — not a diagram drawn to make a point.
