Tunnel screen
OffenseSchemeWRQBOL
What it is
A screen to a receiver who comes back inside, with linemen releasing to build a wall outside him.
Why it matters
The tunnel is the aggressive cousin of the bubble: the receiver comes inside rather than outside, and offensive linemen release downfield to form the alley he runs through. It is a punishment for a corner playing soft and for a defensive line rushing hard, and it needs the receiver to be patient enough to let the wall form.
Also called
Programs call this tunnel, wide receiver screen or wall screen. The Coach answers to any of them.
