Wall the crosser

DefenseTechniqueILBOLBS

What it is

Getting into the path of a crossing route to break its timing before passing it on.

Why it matters

A crosser that runs clean through two zones is a completion; one that has to go around a defender's body arrives late and covered. Walling is not covering — the defender re-routes and stays in his area, which is what makes it possible without abandoning the zone. It is the single technique that keeps mesh and shallow concepts honest against zone.
