What it is
Getting your hands inside the other man's frame, thumbs up, so you control his chest and he controls nothing.
Why it matters
Inside hands are the difference between blocking a man and holding onto him, and between shedding a block and being driven. The frame is the space between the armpits: hands inside it mean the elbows stay tight and the force lands on the sternum; hands outside it mean long arms, no power, and — on offense — a holding call the moment the defender moves. The associated coaching points are thumbs up rather than thumbs in (which turns the elbows out and kills the power), and hands landing before the feet stop. Both a jam by a corner and a punch by a guard are the same technique judged by the same standard.
