Log block
OffenseTechniqueFBTEGH
What it is
Turning the end man in rather than kicking him out, so the ball goes around him instead of inside him.
Why it matters
The log is the kickout's answer to a spilling defender: if the end wrong-arms every kickout, the blocker stops fighting it and hooks him inside instead, sending the ball outside where the spill was pushing it anyway. Teaching both, with a rule for choosing, is what makes a gap scheme durable against a defense that has scouted it.
Also called
Programs call this log, hook the end or seal and go around. The Coach answers to any of them.
