What it is
Each blocker is assigned a specific rusher and stays with him wherever he goes.
Why it matters
Man protection is the only way to free a back into a route and still block everybody, and it is the better answer when the line's individual matchups are winning. Its weakness is stunts: two rushers exchanging paths force two blockers to pass men off in traffic, which is exactly what a tex or a tom is designed to make impossible.
