Spacing
OffenseSchemeQBWRTERB
What it is
Three or four short routes distributed evenly across the field, each sitting in a window.
Why it matters
Spacing is the simplest answer to zone in football and the most reliable third-and-five call in a program with limited practice time: everyone finds grass, sits, and shows the quarterback his numbers. It beats spot drop by definition, and it is a poor call against man, which is why almost every version carries a man conversion.
Also called
Programs call this spacing, snag, hank or sit down routes. The Coach answers to any of them.
