Hot route

OffenseSchemeQBWRTERB

What it is

A pre-arranged short throw that replaces a receiver's route the moment an unblocked rusher shows.

Why it matters

The hot is the offense's admission that it cannot block everyone and its plan for that fact: the quarterback identifies the extra rusher before the snap and knows exactly where the ball goes if he comes. It only works if the receiver reads the same rusher — a hot thrown to a man still running his original route is the worst outcome available on a football field.

Also called

Programs call this hot, sight adjust, hot receiver or blitz beater. The Coach answers to any of them.

See it on the field

The certainty this gives both sides, and why that runs in both directions. The alignment comes from the engine’s own front resolver against real offensive splits, so it is a picture the simulator genuinely produces — not a diagram drawn to make a point.

Empty — five out, five to block
